"Expect the Unexpected"

When I was growing up, my dad had a window cleaning company.  His slogan was "Expect the Unexpected." At the time I really didn't know what it meant, but now I do. It means we can expect something that is not usually expected like, in the case of my dad's business, going over and above with great quality and great service. My brother and sister-in-law now own the company and the slogan still rings true today. Last month I had my very own opportunity to "expect the unexpected".

As you may know, I came home to Canada in May to fundraise with a goal to increase my support by $1000/month. It was a busy time, speaking  in churches and meeting many donors and individuals to share the great work of VOH. As I did, I tried to expect the unexpected, knowing in the natural reaching my goal would be unlikely.

I'm thrilled to report that, through His help, hard work and the faithfulness of so many individuals like you, the goal has been met. I have a solid foundation of funding and prayer support in place for the upcoming term upon which I can continue my ministry mission work with VOH Africa.

THANK YOU to all who became a new monthly partner, increased, renewed or continued their monthly support, gave a special gift and/or committed to pray for me.

I've been reminded that:
  • people are generous and want to be part of something that is truly making a difference
  • the power of a network of prayer support is unmeasurable
  • God is faithful! We CAN expect the unexpected when He is part of it!
Now it's time to get back to "business" (aka my mission work)!

I returned to Tanzania yesterday. The next few months are going to be jam packed. We have a VOH leadership planning meeting next month with all the VOH directors, schools will be beginning their new year soon, and I'm taking on a special project in the fall (more about that later!)

But for this update today, I just want to thank the Lord for His faithfulness and say thanks to each and everyone of you who responded so generously in the last couple of months.

Below is a video I shared with the churches and a few pictures of my visits. Please click on the video to watch it. I love it! It's a great snapshot of the ministry VOH is doing and how you are part of it. Please click it and watch - I think you'll love it too!
